Prior to his current advisory role with Rock Island Capital, Mr. Martin shared overall management responsibility for Rock Island Capital with Mr. Hartman, Mr. Mattaliano and Mr. Nugent and was responsible for deal generation, due diligence, deal structuring and negotiation, along with fundraising and investor relations.
Prior to joining Rock Island Capital, Mr. Martin was President of the M&A business of Century Business Services, Inc. with offices in New York, Chicago, Atlanta and Los Angeles. Prior to CBIZ, Mr. Martin was a founder and Partner at Vine Street Partners, a middle market investment bank, where he was responsible for the origination and execution of merger and acquisition and capital raising assignments for a broad array of middle market companies. Prior to Vine Street Partners, Mr. Martin spent 17 years at Bankers Trust Company, where he reached the level of Managing Director and Partner with responsibilities that included acting as a principal on behalf of the Bank for private equity, subordinated and senior debt. His positions at Bankers Trust included heading the European Merchant Bank where he was responsible for building a private equity and mezzanine business with offices in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Spain (the European Merchant Bank completed transactions worth $4.5 billion and was ranked as a leader in leveraged buyouts in Europe from 1987 to 1989); heading the Midwest Region in Chicago; Division Head responsible for the Bank's large corporate business in Los Angeles; and heading the Credit Training Program of its Metropolitan Banking Department.
Mr. Martin received a Bachelors of Science in Education majoring in Economics from Northern Illinois University and a Masters of Business Administration from Loyola University Chicago.
